SUTD gets 24/7 telemedicine clinic from SmartRx and Minmed

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) has opened a Telemedicine Clinic together with SmartRx and Minmed to offer staff, students, and nearby residents tele-consultation with Minmed doctors, along with prescription drug dispensing services round the clock. Medical certificates are also issued digitally through an app. This process saves patients up to two hours compared to visiting a physical clinic and obtaining prescriptions.

 

Twilo report finds 65% of consumers in Singapore being frustrated with their digital interactions over the past year

Twilo’s State of Customer Engagement Report 2023 found that 65% of consumers in Singapore have been frustrated with their digital interactions over the past year, up from 60% the year before. And while local consumers (67%) say they’re more likely to stop using a brand if experiences aren’t personalised, nearly half of them will stop purchasing from a brand if their expectations for data privacy and transparency weren’t met.

 

Zyxel launches NWA50AX to bring business-class Wi-Fi 6 networking to SMBs

Zyxel has announced the launch of the NWA50AX, a Wi-Fi 6-enabled 802.11ax Dual-Radio PoE Access Point. This allows SMBs an upgrade path to increase the speed and range of their existing network and expand network capacity to support bandwidth-intensive applications and IoT deployments. With Smart Mesh technologies which automatically forms wireless links between access points to expand network range without the need for complex Wi-Fi cabling requirement, the NWA50AX provides a maximum data rate of 1775 Mbps and support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies to deliver faster speeds in congested or high-density environments. It is available now for S$205 from Zyxel’s official store on Lazada.

 

67% of Gen Z Singaporeans willing to accept lower GDP growth for more sustainable growth

A ‘Future-Proof’ Research report by Dell Technologies says that Generation Z in Singapore will give policymakers time to deliver economic growth and are willing to bear short-term economic limitations if the Government can demonstrate a clear, digital plan for a more sustainable future. They ranked enabling a circular economy (41%), sustainable energy (36%) and smart cities (34%) as the top three investment areas for governments to prioritise. Nearly a quarter of Singapore respondents (23%) also expressed support for greater sustainability education for citizens.

 

Cisco report finds only 14% of companies surveyed in Singapore are ready to defend against cyberattacks

In the Cisco report, Cisco Cybersecurity Readiness Index: Resilience in a Hybrid World, 85% of respondents said they expect a cybersecurity incident to disrupt their business in the next 12 to 24 months. The cost of being unprepared can be substantial with 60% of respondents saying that they had a cybersecurity incident in the last 12 months, which cost at least US$500,000 for 58% of organisations affected. However, 90% of respondents added that their organisations plan to increase their cybersecurity budget by at least 10% over the next 12 months.

 

QNAP launches the TS-1655, a high-capacity hybrid NAS with 16 hot-swap bays

QNAP has announced the release of the large-capacity NAS, the TS-1655, that has support for 12 bays for 3.5-inch HDDs, 4 bays for 2.5-inch SSDs, and two M.2 slots for cache SSDs.

Designed as a hybrid storage architecture that balances performance and cost, its specs include an Intel Atom C5125 CPU with 8 cores and 2.8GHz clock speed, 8GB of RAM (expandable up to 128GB), 5GB of flash memory, and 2.5 Gigabit LAN ports. By installing a dual-port 25GbE network card, the TS-1655 delivers outstanding sequential read/write speeds of 3,499/2,465 MB/s.

The TS-1655 comes with Qtier technology, an automatic tiering system that optimises storage areas based on access frequency and data type, enabling large-capacity and high-speed data transfer. It is 369.89mm long, 319.8mm wide, 294.29mm high, and weighs 13.16kg.
