Elon Musk says Twitter will increase tweet character limit to 4,000
Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced a huge change is coming to the social media platform.
Responding to a question on whether Twitter is increasing the character limit to 4,000, Musk confirmed with "yes". He did not provide a timeline of the change to happen. The current character limit is 280, which was increased in 2017 from the original 140 cap.
Musk previously suggested via a series of tweets that long chains of text could be broken up into multiple tweets as part of a thread. With this increase in character limit, Twitter users can post longer tweets.
