Elden Ring has been delayed to 25 Feb next year but is planning a Closed Network Test in Nov

Elden Ring might no longer be the meme it was a year or two ago, but it's already joined the club of "games we really want to play but got delayed". According to information provided by publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, From Software will need more time to get their latest title ready for players, and the reason provided was that the game's "depth" and "degree of freedom in strategy" far exceeded the team's initial expectations. As a result, they've opted for a slight extension.

And by slight, we mean 25 Feb next year.

Although most, if not all of us are pretty tired of seeing game releases getting pushed back every other day, I think a month's extension is still pretty reasonable compared to the three or four-month delays for other games. Not to mention that people have been making memes about the existence of Elden Ring for years - so what's another 30 days, right?

Along with the delay announcement, the press release also provides details for the game's first Closed Network Test, which will be taking place from 12-15 Nov at the timeslots listed below. Interested players can sign up for the test at this website, and if you're lucky enough to receive a place, all you'll need to do is hop onto your PS4, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S to get in on the action.

  • November 13: 11:00 to 14:00 SGT

Yes, it's going to be consoles only. Sorry, PC players, but you'll have to sit this one out.
