To boldly go.

Bethesda Game Studios opened Xbox's Games Showcase with a release date trailer for their first original IP in 25 years: Starfield! The game will launch exclusively on Xbox consoles and PC on 11 November, 2022.

Watch the new trailer below:

November 2022 is a long time from now, but at least we’ve finally got a release date for this thing. Starfield comes from the creators of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, taking places out to the outer reaches of space where they can pilot starships and presumably explore new planets. It’s an epic about hope, our shared humanity and unravelling the oldest mystery known to humankind. What’s not to love?

Details are scarce on the game as of right now, but if this teaser is anything to judge Starfield by, it looks like the story takes place in the far-flung future - one where humans have colonised planets with the help of little robots and massive starships. Bethesda thrives on open-world RPGs, so it’ll be interesting to see how Starfield makes that formula work in the cold vacuum of space.
