Fascinated by gold, Dyson founder James Dyson challenged his engineers to find a way to apply gold leaf to the Supersonic hair dryer. And the result is what you see here, the Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer.

The Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer comes has a rich blue chassis and with a distinctive gold cap at its head. It's a very bold color scheme and reminds me of Wolverine's classic yellow and blue outfit.

The age-old process of gold-leafing has always been a labor-intensive one that required a lot of work by hand. But after much research, Dyson was able to automate some aspects of it, making it suitable for mass production.

A robotic arm is first used to apply an adhesive onto the surface of a red loop that forms the cap of the Supersonic hair dryer. 23.75k gold leaf from Florence, Italy, is then carefully applied by hand and brushed to achieve a smooth and even finish.

Under the proverbial hood, the Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer is unchanged. It features Dyson small and powerful V9 digital motor that spins up to 110,000rpm and can push up to 13 liters of air every second.

It also has an intelligent microprocessor that monitors exit air temperature 20 times per second and adjusts accordingly to ensure that hair never gets damaged.

All in all, the Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer is a luxe version of what is an already very pricey, though admittedly capable, hair dryer.

The Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer will come in a presentation case and it will go on sale on 23 November 2018 on shop.dyson.com.sg. Pre-orders begin today. The Dyson Supersonic 23.75 karat gold hair dryer is priced at S$749.
