Dyson is launching a new robot vacuum, mop and a really big air purifier
Dyson, known for its consistent yearly releases – usually discrete and single-product-based, has just launched a collection of six novel products. This marks an unusual departure from the tech company's traditional approach and heralds their venture into unfamiliar territories. Let’s take a closer look.
To start with, Dyson is back in the game of robot vacuums. Despite their previous attempts with robot vacuums like the Dyson 360 Eye and 360 Heurist in the US, which didn't quite take off, Dyson has returned with the new Dyson 360 Vis Nav, and signals the company's fresh intention to launch robot vacuums as a key product category.
The Vis Nav is leaner than previous models and features a unique D-shaped design, similar to the Roomba S9 and Samsung Jet Bot AI+. With its sharp corners, this vacuum promises efficient cleaning in corners – a challenging task for rounded models. It's also equipped with sensors that allow it to clean along the edges of the room. Moreover, the Vis Nav boasts a dual-action, adjusting suction based on the size and type of debris detected by its piezo sensors.
The pricing and launch date for the Vis Nav will be announced separately but it’s safe to assume that it won’t be cheap.
Dyson is also expanding its successful cordless vacuum line with an unexpected twist – a mop. Meet the Dyson Submarine, a wet roller head attachment with twin water tanks for clean and dirty water, with a motor-driven microfiber brush for efficient cleaning of spills, stains, and debris on hard floors.
In addition, Dyson introduced a new model in their dry sweeping category: the Gen5detect. Powered by Dyson's fifth generation Hyperdymium motor, the Gen5detect offer unprecedented suction and come with an improved Fluffy Optic cleaner head that illuminates dust particles. Local pricing and availability are not announced, but the new vacuum will be available in the US starting June 6 and priced at US$949.
Dyson is also revolutionising air purification with the Big+Quiet Formaldehyde, and an all-new design that also makes it the quietest and most powerful air purifier from the company. Its unique design includes a system of "Cone Aerodynamics" capable of projecting air purification up to 10 metres away. With a CO2 sensor, it also monitors ventilation and reduces formaldehyde levels in your home. Yet despite these advanced features, it doesn't produce more than 56 decibels of sound. An alternate version suitable for commercial spaces, the Dyson Purifier HEPA Big+Quiet Formaldehyde, will also be available. Pricing details are yet to be announced.
