Dust and Water Resistant Samsung Galaxy XCover Announced

What's the one great thing about Android? It's available across a wide variety of devices. With both Motorola and Sony Ericsson announcing their own rugged Android smartphones, it's no surprise to see Samsung unveiling one from the Galaxy series.

Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy XCover, this rugged Android 2.3 smartphone comes with the IP67 standard certification. In essence, it's dust and shock resistant. The same standard also allows the device to be soaked up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes.

Beyond the rugged aspect, the XCover's specifications, such as the processor and storage capacity, is still unknown. For now, the only details on its specifications includes a 3.65-inch scratch-resistant display and a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash.

For now, there's no word on the Xcover's availability beyond Germany, but do check back in the near future for more details about the XCover's availability and pricing.
