Dominate games in comfort with Samsung’s Odyssey gaming monitors

Odyssey (noun): An extended adventurous voyage or trip.

If you’re asking, yes - I Googled that. For good reason, of course. In other words, Samsung’s new flagship curved gaming monitors, the Odyssey G9 and G7.

After all, this dynamic duo certainly have lots to say for themselves in terms of features, but one thing is clear: Samsung's new gaming monitors are all about immersion and taking users’ gaming experiences up a notch. So, what do they offer above the rest?

But first let’s not jump the gun here, or rather, the G9’s imposing 49” QLED display as well as the G7’s 32” and 27” counterparts. Boasting a completely redesigned aesthetic with futuristic undertones, plus an extremely high 1000R curvature to fill up a user’s field of view, both monitors not only look gorgeous on the outside (from the attached images in the press release), but also Samsung also boasts that they offer cutting-edge visual performances that are backed up by TUV Rheinland, a leading international tech assessment body.

In fact, the latter have awarded Samsung not one, but two accolades for the G9 and G7. These are the High Performance Curved Display (1000R) and the Eye Comfort certificates respectively. The paper recognitions are topped off by a medley of other impressive (even if by now gaming standard) specs and features, such as the 1ms response time and the 240Hz RapidCurve technology.

However, the G9 still stands a notch apart from the G7 in some ways, one of them being its Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD) display, as compared to the G7’s Quad High Definition (QHD) display. The former is the world’s first monitor to have such a feature alongside a 240Hz refresh rate, which essentially translates to having two 24-inch 16:9 displays side-by-side, making for impressive, if not completely enrapturing gaming experiences, especially if you’re playing a FPS or duking it out in an intense RPG boss battle.

The two monitors also come with patented Quantum Dot technology, which help to provide a wide range of pixel-perfect colour reproductions that can stay crisp and clear in bright light. And last but least both monitors are NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certified too.

The Odyssey G9 and G7 will be available for pre-order on the Samsung online store and other online retail sources like Courts, Harvey Norman and Lazada starting from 28 May. The G9 has an SRP of S$2,899, while the 32” and 27” variants of the G7 are priced at S$1,349 and S$1,119 respectively (including GST).
