DJI unveils the Mini 3 Pro drone

DJI just announced its most powerful, lightweight and portable drone.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro weighs less than 249g, which means it does not need to be registered with the authorities in many countries. DJI also introduced a new structural design on the Mini 3 Pro; the arms and propellers are refined for more aerodynamic flight which results in longer flight time. With the standard intelligent flight battery, the DJ Mini 3 Pro can fly up to a maximum of 34 minutes.

There are also forward and backward dual-vision sensors for increased sensing range and a safer flight experience. The gimbal is redesigned to offer more camera angles such as tilt-up shots and vertical shooting.

DJI says the Mini 3 Pro is the first in its series to support Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing with the forward, backward and downward visual sensors. The forward and downward sensors provide a wider field of view for better route planning and environmental awareness.

The Mini 3 Pro is also the first in the lineup to integrate Advanced Pilot Assistance System (APAS) 4.0 and FocusTrack. APAS 4.0 automatically detects and finds a safer path around obstacles while flying. FocusTrack enables the Mini 3 Pro to keep a subject within the center of the frame during flight.

Other specs include a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with 2.4μm pixels for better low-light performance, dual-native ISO, f/1.7 aperture, video recording up to 4K at 60fps, still images up to 48MP, HDR video recording at 30fps, and the option to boost flight time to a maximum of 47 minutes with the intelligent flight battery plus.

DJI also unveiled a new remote controller (RC), the DJI RC which has a 5.5-inch built-in touchscreen. This eliminates the need for the user to mount a phone to the RC.

The Mini 3 Pro is available for pre-order from today on DJI's website and authorised retail partners with shipment starting by late May. The Mini 3 Pro with no RC is priced at US$699. The Mini 3 Pro with DJI RC-N1 costs US$759 while the Mini 3 Pro with DJI RC is priced at US$909.
