Disney+ will crackdown on password-sharing in Canada starting 1 November
Disney+'s crackdown on password sharing is coming earlier than expected.
Subscribers in Canada are informed of the upcoming password-sharing restrictions via email, which states that Disney+ is "implementing restrictions" on users' ability to share their account or login credentials outside of their household. The restrictions will be enforced from 1 November.
Disney CEO Bob Iger shared last month that the company will begin cracking down on password sharing in 2024. Disney's decision came shortly after Netflix expanded its password sharing crackdown to Singapore and other countries in May.
While Netflix offers Standard and Premium tier subscribers a paid option to continue sharing their account with someone who doesn't live with them in the household, Disney+ has not announced any similar plan.
