Seems like it's the year of price hikes on almost anything.
Disney+ has introduced changes to its subscription plans for Singapore with the introduction of Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium subscription tiers for S$12.98 and S$15.98 a month, respectively. However, subscribing for a year can save you over 16% when compared to paying 12 months at the monthly subscription price. For reference, Disney+ first debuted in Singapore for just S$11.98 a month and had no differentiated tiers.
Disney+ Standard (S$12.98)
For the price, a Disney+ Standard subscriber will be able to download any series or movie, enjoy up to 1080p FHD video, enjoy up to 5.1-channel surround sound audio, all over two devices at a time.
Disney+ Premium (S$15.98)
Disney+ Premium subscribers can also download any series or movie, enjoy up to 4K UHD and HDR video, and experience up to Dolby Atmos audio, all over four devices at the same time.
In line with this, StarHub has also unveiled changes to its Disney+ subscription plans that took effect yesterday. While they will offer Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium as subscription tiers at the same price, StarHub is also bundling both options to its Fibre Broadband Customers as well as New or Recontracting TV+ or HomeHub+ customers. StarHub customers who received Disney+ through StarHub services will continue to receive it until the end of their bundled access period and will then be transitioned to Disney+ Premium.
This move comes just after Disney+ announced plans to introduce an ad-supported tier and to start cracking down on password sharing next year. Netflix also recently announced changes to its price plans for the various tiers it has in the United States and this could trickle down to Singapore.
