Dimensity 1000C unveiled for first MediaTek-powered 5G phone in the U.S

The Dimensity 1000C is unveiled for the first MediaTek-powered 5G phone in the U.S, the LG Velvet on T-Mobile's 5G network.

It is a 5G-integrated SoC with mixed duplex 5G-CA for higher average speeds and a seamless handover between two 5G connection areas across a coverage layer. It also supports mixed duplex TDD+FDD, TDD+TDD, and FDD+FDD for U.S carriers.

The 7nm chipset comes with four ARM Cortex-A77 CPU cores and four power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating up to 2GHz. It also has a large, low-latency communal cache to improve performance and power-efficiency, and five ARM Mali-G57 GPU cores.

The Dimensity 1000C combines three different types of AI processors in the MediaTek AI processung unit (APU 3.0) to deliver advanced AI capabilities and meet the needs of the latest AI-camera, AI-assistant, in-app and OS-enhancements.

Other new features include support for AV1 video hardware decoding with Netflix and YouTube videos, support for dual independent displays, ultra-fast 120Hz single displays up to FHD+, and a HDR-native 5-core ISP that supports up to four concurrent cameras including large 64MP sensors.
