Did Samsung use images of the Apple Watch for its patent application?

Since 2011, Samsung has been accused of copying the iPhone in design and user interface. In 2016, Samsung can add wearable to that list.

According to Patently Apple, Samsung's recent patent application to the U.S Patent and Trademarks Office includes many images of what seem to be the Apple Watch. Titled "Wearable Device", the patent application revolves around "exchangeable" strap mechanisms which have a striking resemblance to the various Apple Watch band styles. The images even show the digital crown, hardware button and the sensors at the rear.

Patently Apple - Samsung's patent notes that "The band for adjustment may be coupled with the band for fixing through a structure, such as a separated buckle or a continuous integral buckle, through a magnetic attracting force, or through a hooked ring or hooked member." Hmm, I wonder where they got that idea from?

It is hard to imagine that Samsung will actually use images of the Apple Watch in its patent application for wearable devices. Will this spark another round of patent wars?
