Diablo IV coming to Game Pass on 28 March

Diablo IV will be the first title from Activision Blizzard to become available on Xbox Game Pass on 28 March. This development follows the completion of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, a move that led to much speculation about when and which games from the acquisition would appear on the subscription service.

Microsoft Gaming's CEO, Phil Spencer, had previously indicated last October, just after the acquisition was finalised, that it would be until 2024 before major titles, such as Call of Duty, would be added to the service. However, it appears the timeline has been expedited for Diablo IV.

Diablo IV's release last year was met with acclaim (read our review here), and its ongoing seasonal updates, currently in the Season of the Construct, have kept the game fresh for its player base. The decision to include Diablo IV in the Game Pass lineup is expected to make the game accessible to an additional 34 million subscribers, potentially expanding its audience significantly.

The announcement also touched upon Microsoft's plans to bring four unnamed exclusives, which were hinted at but not explicitly revealed, to other platforms – that is PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. This move aims to reassure Xbox fans about the continued value of the Game Pass service amidst these changes. With the addition of Diablo IV to the Game Pass and promises of more Activision Blizzard games to follow, Microsoft is laying the groundwork for future expansions of the Game Pass library.
