Alongside the launch of a slew of new 8th generation Core processors from Intel, Dell also lifted the wraps off of its new XPS 15 notebook.

Dell claims the XPS 15 is the smallest 15-inch notebook in its class. It measures 17mm thick but tapers to a svelte 11mm. Weight is just 2kg.

The big news is that it will be powered by Intel’s newest 8th generation processors. Users can opt for a quad-core Core i5 processor or a 6-core Core i7 or Core i9 processor. This will be paired with 8GB to 32GB of RAM.

The XPS 15 will come with a choice of integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 or discrete graphics in the form of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1050 or GTX 1050 Ti.

As for storage, users can opt for pure flash storage, a mix of SSD and HDD, or an SSHD.

Naturally, the display is 15-inch and features Dell’s InfinityEdge design, so the bezels are super thin. Users will be able to pick between a 4K touchscreen display and a Full-HD non-touchscreen display.

As for ports, the XPS 15 is bestowed with a single Thunderbolt 3 port, two USB 3.1 ports, an HDMI port, and an SD card reader.

Battery life is claimed to be an amazing 21 hours, presumably when paired with the larger 97Wh battery.

Here’s a quick rundown of its specifications:

  • 15.6-inch IPS display (4K or Full-HD)
  • Up to Intel Core i9-8950HK processor (2.9GHz, 9MB L3 cache)
  • Up to 32GB DDR4-2400 RAM
  • Up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB
  • Up to 1TB SSD (SSD + HDD and SSHD options available)
  • 56Wh or 97Wh battery
  • 357 x 235 x 17mm
  • 2kg

No word yet on local pricing and availability. But Dell did say that prices will begin from US$999 in the US.
