Powered by Broadcom's 5G Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac chipset, the DIR-865L Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router utilizes the 5GHz frequency band to deliver speeds of up to three times faster than that of Wireless N. Backwards compatible with existing wireless devices operating on earlier standards such as 802.11a/b/g/n, the router serves wireless speeds of up to 1750Mbps (1300
Mbps over the 5GHz band plus 450 Mbps over the 2.4GHz band) using multiple channels. The 802.11ac provides improved coverage using a beam-forming system which sends a targeted stream of data directly from the router to the device, hence increasing range and overcoming obstructions for full-home coverage.

D-Link Cloud Router owners have the option to manage and control their 802.11ac wireless networks from the mydlink Cloud Services portal or via an iPhone/iPod/Android device with the mydlink Lite app installed. There's also the SharePort Mobile app for iOS or Android, which provides access to files and multimedia stored on a USB drive.

The DIR-865L also includes a fully-functional DLNA server for streaming multimedia files including photos, music, and videos to any compatible DLNA media player, and support for IPv6, making it forward compatible with the forthcoming changes to the protocol system that powers the Internet.

The DIR-865L D-Link Wireless AC Cloud Router will be available for the price of S$299 in October 2012.
