D-Link's COVR family of mesh networking systems has a new member and it's called the COVR-X1870.

The COVR-X1870 is a dual-band AX1800-class mesh networking system that supports Wi-Fi 6. This means it can deliver speeds of up to 574Mbps on its 2.4GHz network and 1,200Mbps on its 5GHz network.

D-Link claims that a two-pack system can offer Wi-Fi coverage up to 5,500 sq ft or 510 sq m, which should suffice for most apartments here in Singapore. If that's insufficient, you can easily add COVR-X1870 nodes to increase coverage.

But perhaps more importantly, Wi-Fi 6's support for technologies such as OFDMA (orthogonal frequency-division multiple access) should mean that it can better support more connected devices simultaneously. This is an important consideration bearing in mind the number of devices we have today.

In terms of ports, you get the usual single Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. There are no USB ports.

The COVR-X1870 was designed to be easily to set up too. Simply download the D-Link Wi-Fi app, follow the on-screen instructions, and you should have your mesh network up and running in minutes.

The D-Link COVR-X1870 is available now and a two-pack bundle will cost you S$259. You can find it on D-Link Flagship Store on Lazada.
