Plot twist - Superman’s the bad guy?

Rocksteady Studios have finally announced their next project: a Suicide Squad game. The game is currently in development, with a full announcement scheduled for the DC FanDome event. DC FanDome kicks off on August 23, at 1am (Singapore time).

This will be the first game the developer has announced since 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight and 2016’s Batman: Arkham VR. It’s very much in line with previous rumours of what the studio has been working on - a multiplayer Suicide Squad game much like Marvel’s Avengers.

Eagle-eyed ResetEra users found various Suicide Squad-related web domains connected to Rocksteady, including SuicideSquadKillTheJusticeLeague.com. That’s very likely to be the game’s premise, given its reveal poster has an ominous-looking Superman with a target on his head. It would certainly be an interesting premise - playing as members of the Suicide Squad forced to hunt down Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and more.

This might not be the only DC game we’ll see revealed at DC FanDome. Warner Bros. Montréal has teased a new Batman game for years, and it’s very likely to see an unveiling at DC FanDome. NetherRealm Studios founder Ed Boon and comicbook writer Tom Taylor will appear together at the event, and the two have one thing in common: DC Comics’ Injustice franchise. Don’t be surprised if Injustice 3 gets revealed too.

DC FanDome is a massive comic con-like event focusing on all of DC Comics’ properties - from movies, TV shows and videogames to the comicbooks themselves. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has promised a better look at his upcoming Suicide Squad movie. We’ll also see more of The Batman, the Justice League SnyderCut, Wonder Woman 1984 and much, much more.
