CounterPoint Research: Over half of Pixel 3 owners switched from Samsung
Google’s Pixel 3 lineup appears to have more success in getting users of other Android brands to switch than its main target base, the iOS camp.
Data collected from CounterPoint’s US Smartphone Churn Tracker indicates that over half (51%) of all new Pixel 3 owners came from Samsung. Of this group of ex-Samsung users, 31% previously used the Galaxy S7 model. Only 18% of new Pixel 3 users came from the iPhone while 14% migrated from Motorola devices.
Statistics are almost similar for the OnePlus 6T; 37% of the OnePlus 6T owners came from Samsung while 16% migrated from the iPhone.
Jeff Fieldhack, research director at CounterPoint Research, believes this is a “disappointment” for the Pixel lineup. Pixel phones are meant to lead Android innovation and get iPhone users to switch, but it seems that over 80% of the users came from Android partners.
