The Cooler Master MWE series PSUs start at just S$55 for a 400-watt model

Cooler Master has announced the local availability of its new MWE series of power supplies, a line of power efficient and affordable units that the company claims is also designed to be durable, reliable, and stable.

The MWE PSUs feature active Power Factor Correction (PFC), which translates into overall greater efficiency and wider input voltage tolerances. According to Cooler Master, this means that the PSUs can stand up to things like inconsistent input voltage and voltage spikes, in addition to protecting the system against drops in voltage.

All the MWE PSUs offer 80 PLUS certification at 230V, or 85 per cent efficiency under typical load.

They are also equipped with a 120mm hydro dynamic bearing fan, which are really modified versions of more common sleeve bearing fans that take better to horizontal mounting.

The MWE series is intended for system builders on very tight budgets, so it is available in just three lower wattage models:

  • MWE 400 (S$55)
  • MWE 450 (S$59)
  • MWE 500 (S$65)

Of course, there are bound to be certain trade-offs at that price, such as none of the units are modular.
