Cooler Master has announced the local availability of the MasterFan SF120M, the latest addition to its MasterFan SF series. The SF120M adopts a new design that puts raw performance over lighting and aesthetics, so that's good news for those of you who don't care for the proliferation of RGB fans on the market.

The new fan is equipped with an anti-vibration motor featuring dual ball bearings for reduced friction, better performance, and lower noise. There are also rubber pads on each corner to further absorb vibrations. In addition, the frame of the fan contains what Cooler Master refers to as "metallic shielding", which helps maintain the rigidity of the frame and avoid unwanted vibrations.

The metal gives the fan a distinctive industrial look as well, which isn't something you see on a lot of chassis fans these days.

To further lower noise, the fan blades are connected to each other via a continuous frame, which supposedly reduces flex and also improves performance.

The SF120M comes with three performance profiles – L, M, and H – ranging from 1,200RPM to 2,000RPM. A small switch embedded in the fan's frame lets you easily set the maximum speed in PWM mode.

Installation has been simplified as well, and the SF120M has a detachable 4-pin PWM cable that can also be replaced with an extension cable. This allows up to three fans to be daisy-chained together for easier cable management.

With a maximum static pressure of 2.40mm/H2O in H mode though, these seem more intended for use as chassis fans than with a radiator, unless you want to run them in H mode all the time.

The MasterFan SF120M is available to buy now at S$45.
