With the availability of the source code of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS),  Coby became the latest addition to the ever-increasing list of Android vendors by announcing five ICS-powered tablets for 2012. The tablets will have the following specifications:

  • Come in 7, 8, 9, 9.7 and 10-inch form factors
  • 1GHz Cortex 8 single-core processors
  • 1GB of RAM
  • Wi-Fi version only
  • HDMI ports
  • Expandable memory up to 32GB

Although Coby did not mention any specific launch date, the company will debut the tablets at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012, held from January 10 to 13.

ICS is Google's first major attempt to address its Android platform fragmentation issue. It will streamline the user experience across Android smartphones and tablets to provide a more homogenous user interface for consumers.
