Chipset for the Nothing Phone (2) confirmed
Nothing founder Carl Pei has confirmed the processor used for its next flagship phone.
In a series of tweets, Pei lists out the various reasons for choosing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to power the Nothing Phone (2). Compared to the Snapdragon 778G+ on the Phone (1), Pei says the app opening speed on Phone (2) is twice as fast with 80% overall performance improvement.
Pei also says the Snapdragon 8 series offers major improvements across the board such as battery life, networking connectivity and camera capaibilities, over the Snapdragon 7 Series. This allows the Nothing Phone (2) to have advanced camera features such as like RAW HDR and 4K video recording at 60fps.
As the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is built on TSMC's 4nm process, Pei claims it is the best-in class for power consumption and heat management. More importantly, Pei says the choice to go with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is to keep the Phone (2) accessible to consumers while offering a better user experience.
The Nothing Phone (2) will be unveiled at an event in summer. Other rumoured specs of the device include a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a rear primary 50MP camera with OIS, and a 5,000mAh battery.
