Chinese display makers said to be vying for iPhone SE 4 OLED panel orders

Apple is likely to source OLED panels from Chinese display makers for the fourth-generation iPhone SE.

ITHome reports that Chinese display makers such as Tianma are vying to secure OLED panel orders from Apple for the next iPhone SE model. Apple employees reportedly visited various OLED panel plants in China in the first half of this year.

The fourth-generation iPhone SE is rumoured to debut in 2024 as Apple "restarted" work on the device. Mass production and shipment plans of the device were said to be cancelled due to the "consistently lower-than-expected shipments of mid-to-low-end iPhones."

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the next iPhone SE model will have a similar design to the iPhone 14. In other words, it will sport a 6.1-inch OLED display.

There is also a possibility of the iPhone SE being equipped with Apple's own 5G chip if the company manages to overcome purported development and legal issues.

If and when the fourth-generation iPhone SE launches, Apple's transition to OLED for the iPhone lineup will be complete. The iPhone SE is currently the only phone in Apple's lineup to still use an LCD display.
