Casio has collaborated with Formula One racing team Scuderia AlphaTauri to bring three watch models that are made with 6,000 strands of woven carbon fibres.

No stranger to the sport of Formula One, Casio has been a partner of Scuderia AlphaTauri since 2016 when the team was known as Toro Rosso.

The EQB-1200AT, EFS-S580AT, and EFR-571AT watches feature a dial made from 6K carbon fibre and designs using the same kind of high-strength carbon fibre as used in racing car wings and floors.

The team’s navy-blue colour is used to set the tone with accents of fluorescent yellow — the colour of the clothing worn by crew mechanics after races — highlighting key components such as the dial ring, second hand, indicator hand, and stopwatch button, providing the high visibility required for safe work in the paddock and pits. All three watches are also water-resistant down to 100 meters. However, the more advanced models have some additional features.

The EQB-1200AT features a glass made from high-strength sapphire crystal to prevent damage during races. It is also equipped with Mobile Link functions that maintains the correct time when paired with a smartphone using the dedicated app. The app features some 300 cities to choose from for setting World Time.

The EQB-1200AT is powered by Casio’s Tough Solar charging system, which converts light to power the watch. A full charge lasts about nineteen months.

The band is made with Cordura fabric and incorporates a retro-reflective strip to support the safety of team personnel when working at night. Users can switch to the included genuine leather band for regular everyday use.

EFS-S580AT

While also solar-powered, the EFS-S580AT can go for 5 months on a full charge. Image source: Casio.

Like the EQB-1200AT, the EFS-S580AT uses the same high-strength sapphire crystal glass to prevent damage during races. Made from stainless steel, it also uses a solar power system to power the watch but a full charge here lasts for five months.
