Casio's G-Shock watches have always been about packing mass-market style and functionality at a palatable price point. The latest GST-B400 watches are no different, other than Casio going further for style points in the latest G-Steel sub-series.

Casio G-Steel watches are an off-shoot of G-Shock timepieces that come with smartphone connectivity, and the GST-B400 upgrades upon its features by being the slimmest ever of its kind - with cases just 12.9mm thin. The GST-B400 retains its low-power Bluetooth connectivity, which grants a handful of features like Phone Finder, automatic time adjustment, and other watch settings.

At the same time, being part of the G-Shock family also grant the GST-B400 series its heightened toughness - the watches pack water resistance up to 200m depth and can provide about 18 months of continuous operation with power-saving turned on. It also juices up via its solar-charging cells.

Casio said that the GST-B400 features a new, improved module that denser and more optimised than previous layouts. This, in turn, reduces the number and size of components in the GST-B400 watches. There are only two watch hands on its analogue face - so it uses 55.7% less power than the preceding GST-B300 timepieces. Further treatment to the new variants also gives the latest G-Steel tickers their metallic-looking texture. Casio even added a dial indicator at the 9 o'clock position for better readability of the watch's mode, battery level, and other metrics.

  • GST-B400AD-1A4DR: S$589
  • GST-B400BD-1A2DR: S$669

The first variant (B400) uses resin watch bands, while the others come with stainless steel bands.
