If you believe in luck and feel that you haven't been feeling quite so charmed recenty, here's a watch for you.
Casio has just announced the new Golden Daruma G-Shock watches which feature images of a Daruma on the dial of the watch.
A Daruma is usually a hollow, round Japanese doll modelled after Bodhidharma, who is said to be the founder of the Zen Buddhism.
It is also said to symbolise good luck and perseverance. Furthermore, gold is considered to be a lucky colour in Japanese culture. This watch has multiple references to good luck.
The dials were designed by Tokyo-based artist BlackEyePatch and you can see elements of the Daruma framing the LCD display.
The Daruma association doesn't end there. When you activate the electro-luminescent backlight, you can see further reminders of the Daruma in the background of the LCD display.
The Golden Daruma is available in two variants: the DW-6900GDA and the GM-6900GDA. The watches are functionally identical, however, the latter has a gold metal bezel and a black resin band while the DW-6900 has a gold resin bezel and gold resin band.
Both watches are water-resistant to 200 metres, highly shock-resistant, and have countdown timers, chronographs, and alarms.
