G-Shock goes for gold with the new GM-B2100GD-9A full-metal "CasiOak" in yellow gold
Readers who follow G-Shock news closely will know Casio finally answered fans' prayers when they released the GA-B2100 last year.
That watch was based on the very popular GA-2100 "CasiOak" but added two very important features: Tough Solar and Bluetooth connectivity.
Next, they released the GM-B2100, which was basically the GA-B2100 but in full stainless steel. However, when that model debuted, it was only available in stainless steel, black, and rose gold. A yellow gold option was conspicuously missing. Until now.
This is the new GM-B2100GD-9A and it's really just the full metal yellow gold version that many fans were expecting at first.
The case and bracelet is stainless steel but given a yellow ion-plated treatment. The gold treatment extends to the hour and minute hands as well as the tips of the hour indexes.
Despite the lavish design, this is still a G-Shock at heart, which means it's still water-resistant to 200 metres and highly resistant to shocks and drops.
The feature set is similar to other GA-B2100 models and that means you get world time, chronograph, countdown timer functionality. You can sync the watch to your smartphone for the precise time and it charges via the sun or any other strong enough light source.
Availability and pricing
