Singapore – Canon Singapore today announced the XEED WUX5000 multimedia projector, offering superb projection quality for multiple scenarios. The XEED WUX5000 features WUXGA resolution at 1920 x 1200 pixels, 5,000 lumens brightness, a high 1000:1 contrast ratio, and three optional lenses to offer unparalleled versatility in high-quality projections. Featuring a 360-degree installation orientation, the XEED WUX5000 is perfect for use in theatres, conferences, research & medical institutions and sophisticated home entertainment settings.

Quality Projections

The XEED WUX5000 maximizes the imaging superiority of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) technology with the Canon’s proprietary Aspectual Illumination System (AISYS), delivering detailed projections at 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, ultra-bright images at 5,000 lumens which are free of lattice, screen door and rainbow artifacts. The projector features an impressive 1000:1 contrast ratio that optimises deep blacks with a tonal gradation of neutral colors for dramatic color reproduction. These features enable high-quality projection of Full HD movies, complex spreadsheets, and vivid photo images.

In addition, a 3D-LUT (Look-Up Table) via a new color processing IC chip further enhances the accuracy and range of image expression. With the new advanced 6-axis adjustment function that allows fine-tuning of hue, saturation, gamma, brightness, the XEED WUX5000 features unparalleled color adjustment options.

360-degree Projection with Motorized Lens

The XEED WUX5000 features a 360-degree installation orientation so it can easily project images onto the floor or ceiling. This is complemented with a motorized lens shift function, which enables users to shift the projected image position vertically and horizontally to work around minor projector-placement obstacles like pillars, without the need to tilt the projector.

Interchangeable Lenses for a Variety of Projection Needs

Similar to its predecessor, the XEED WUX4000, the XEED WUX5000 offers three optional superior performance lenses to enable the display of high-resolution, distortion-free images. The optional Standard Zoom lens, Long-Focus Zoom lens, and Fixed Short-Focus lens give users an amazing amount of display flexibility at a range of distances. They are optimised for projection in small environments, large environments and rear projection application respectively. These top-graded lenses share the same engineering quality as Canon’s popular EOS Digital Single-Lens Reflex (DSLR) lenses, projecting images with minimal brightness loss while negating on-screen distortion. These three lenses can be used on both the new XEED WUX5000 as well as its predecessor model.

Multiple Modes for a Variety of Scenarios

For photography experts, the XEED WUX5000 features two dedicated photographic imaging modes – ‘Vivid Photo’ and ‘Photo/sRGB’. ‘Vivid Photo’ induces greater vibrancy in multi-colored images especially pale hues and whites, while ‘Photo/sRGB’ is designed to faithfully reproduce the delicate color accents of the original source image even in well-lit settings.

A Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) Simulation Mode (SIM) in the XEED WUX5000 makes it the perfect projector for medical-related imagery. Offering accurate grayscale renderings of X-rays and CT scans which is perfect for pre-surgery in-hospital briefings, medical-related lectures and scientific presentations.

Simplified Maintenance

The XEED WUX5000 design is also hassle-free when it comes to maintenance. The lamp unit and air filter can be easily accessed from the back and side of the unit respectively, making replacements convenient even when the projector remains mounted on the ceiling.

Maintenance frequency is also significantly reduced, thanks to the improved lamp operating life up to 3,000 hours under normal projection and the efficient cooling mechanism that cools the lamp and panel independently.

Multimedia connectivity

The XEED WUX5000 is compatible with a wide range of video and computer devices with industry standard digital and analog terminals. It supports high-definition video signal input including HDMI version 1.3, DVI-D and analog PC terminals, two audio inputs and one audio output for external amplifiers and speakers. In situations where speaker systems are not available, a built-in 5-watt speaker can be used if the need for volume arises.

Price & Availability

The XEED WUX5000 multimedia projector, available in black or white, will be available in end May at authorised Canon dealers at the recommended list price of S$11,000.
