Canon has expanded its Pixma Ink Efficient G Series line-up in Singapore with four new cost-efficient printers that are designed for students, home-based, and small businesses.

These aren’t the first Pixma Ink Efficient G-series printers we’ve seen, but these are the latest with improved ink yields.

Improvements through technology

To improve print speeds, yields, and cost efficiencies, the new G-series of printers boast a number of new key features including new replaceable cartridges, improved ink bottles, and a better print yields.

The cartridges allow for easy maintenance with a drip-free, hands-free ink refilling mechanism, and a user-replaceable maintenance cartridge design to ensure minimum downtime.

The new Canon G series features new ink bottle designs, with outlet nozzles that fit only in the respective colour tank well openings. This allows users to complete the entire unboxing and setup process in just minutes.

Three of the four new printers have a two-line LCD panel to navigate printer settings and view the printer’s status information quickly.

Canon has improved the print yields of both their black and colour cartridges. The company claims that the black-only documents page yield has been improved by 26 percent compared to existing G series models, with the new models delivering up to 7,600 pages with one black ink bottle. Page yield for colour documents has also been improved with the new models capable of printing 7,700 pages with one colour ink bottle.

These two all-in-one (AIO) multi-function printers print, copy, and scan. A two-line LCD panel makes it easy to navigate printer settings and view the printer’s status information. Businesses with substantial daily printing requirements can benefit from higher document print speeds of up to 10.8 ipm mono and 6.0 ipm colour for the Pixma G3060 compared to the Pixma G3020’s 9.1 ipm mono and 5.0 ipm colour.

The only other difference is that the G3060 comes only in Navy blue.

Sporting wireless capabilities, users can also print and scan from iOS and Android mobile devices (smartphone, tablets and laptops) through the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app available on the App and Play Stores. For even easier direct printing from mobile devices, iOS uses can use AirPrint, while Android users can rely on the Canon Print Service plugin, available on the Play store.

Compatible with Google Assistant-enabled and Amazon Alexa-enabled products, users can print a wide range of items such as documents, colouring pages, message cards, and shopping lists by issuing voice commands to the printers via these virtual assistants. The virtual assistants can even inform users of the amount of ink left in the printer when prompted.

For users looking to print more than documents, the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Editor app for iOS, Android OS, Windows and Mac OS platforms can print ID photos, custom photo layouts, calendars, and postcard prints.

Another AIO, the Pixma G2020 features both print and scan functionality. It comes with a two-line LCD panel similar to the one on the Pixma G3060 and G3020, which allows for easy operation and fuss-free adjustment of printer settings. The main difference between this and the previous two models is that it lacks support for wireless and mobile printing.

This print-only device is the most affordable device within the new G series line-up and is for students and home users who will only need to print documents in colour or black and white. Like others in the series, the Pixma Ink Efficient G1020 also features improved page yields compared to the previous generation model.

Pricing and availability

The new G series printers are now available from Canon authorised dealers and cost S$299 for the G3060 and G3020. The G2020 is priced at S$239 and the G1020 is S$189.
