Canon Pixma iP8770 Adds Grey Ink to CMYK and Photo Black Ink Set

Canon has introduced the new Pixma iP8770, which incorporates an additional Grey ink to the standard CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) and Photo Black ink set, making stable neutral gray tones with reduced color shifts in color and monochrome printing possible, and reducing graininess in lighter areas of images.

Equipped with A3+-size printing capabilities, it prints at a maximum resolution of 9600 x 2400dpi and has a 1 picolitre ink droplet size for precise ink positioning. The iP8770 can print at 10.4ipm (images per minute) for color, and 14.5ipm for black and white documents at A4 sizes. For photos, it prints at approximately 120 seconds for a 11 x 14-inch image and 36 seconds for a borderless 4 x 6-inch photo.

Incorporating inbuilt wireless connectivity and cloud printing support, the printer is compatible with the latest DPS over IP standard (Wireless PictBridge), allowing it to print directly from compatible digital cameras over a wireless LAN connection. Users using the WPS-capable wireless router can make use of the dedicated WPS button to initiate WPS push-button configuration. Google Cloud Print lets users to print photos and documents from Google applications such as Gmail and Google Drive, even from remote locations.

The Pixma Printing Solutions app (for both iOS and Android mobile devices) provides users access the printer's Remote UI to check remaining ink levels, initiate regular maintenance functions such as print head alignment and cleaning, as well as obtaining ink cartridge model information. Integrated Cableless Setup enables the printer to be set up easily in secured wireless environments without the need to install any utility programs on host PCs or laptops.

The iP8770 is also bundled with My Image Garden software that offers a variety of image organisation and creative printing features. Finally, the printer features a Auto Power ON/OFF function, allowing it to wake from rest mode to carry out print jobs and shuts it down after a period of inactivity determined by the user.

The Pixma iP8770 is now retailing for S$569.
