You’ll want to clear out some space for this game.

Activision has just confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will need up to 250GB of storage space on PC. This insane amount of storage space is required for users who want to play the game at the highest possible specs, with 4K textures and ray tracing. The game will otherwise need 175GB for all game modes, and 50GB for those who only want to play multiplayer.

You can find Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s PC specifications below:

It’s worth noting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare also required 175GB of storage space at launch, but that number surged upwards of 250GB after a series of updates to the game. Even on consoles, the game almost hit 200GB of storage space after updates. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will inevitably balloon in size as well as time goes on, so you might want to prepare for that.

If you choose to play the next Call of Duty game on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, you might find its size closer to the PC version of the game. This is due to the next-generation console being better equipped to use Black Ops Cold War’s highest-quality assets, with ray tracing capabilities.

Either way, you might want to consider purchasing a 1TB SSD for your PC, if you haven’t already. It’s starting to look more like a requirement than a luxury with games like these. Call of Duty titles certainly aren’t going to get smaller with time, so there’s that too.
