Bring your Netflix movies with you this CNY with new SD card download support

As you can see from the video above, Netflix has just extended SD card support for compatible Android devices in the 4.13 version of their app. Simply select the SD card as your "Download Location" under the app settings and you're good to go.

Before you start stockpiling videos on your SD cards though, take note that Netflix has set limits in place as to how long an offline video can be accessed - typically a week at the longest. The time limits to finish each video vary based on the content. with some movies and TV shows requiring you to complete viewing within 48 hours of hitting play.

Unfortunately, SD card content is only accessible on the device that handled the download, so you won't be able to share cards between devices either. No easy way to download on your phone and view these movies on a larger TV it seems.  As it is, the description on the Google Play store doesn't list exactly what phones are supported either, saying only that the capabilities are coming on "an ever expanding list of supported devices." So, some trial and error will have to be expected.

Still, being able to store videos on SD card definitely make it easier to get the latest HDR content or Ultra 4K HD titles without sweating about clearing space on your phone, and should be a welcome addition that's just in time for the upcoming long weekend.
