BOE resumes OLED production for iPhone 13, hopes to get approval for iPhone 14
BOE has resumed production of OLED panels for the Apple iPhone 13 and may be a supplier for the iPhone 14 according to TheElec.
The Chinese company was dropped from the supply chain weeks ago as Apple discovered BOE had made design changes to the OLED panel. BOE executives reportedly visited Cupertino to explain the matter and sought approval to produce OLED panels for the iPhone 14.
Sources say BOE hopes to get approval from Apple within this month. If approval is given, BOE aims to start production for the standard iPhone 14 model between July and August. BOE is estimated to supply about 5 million OLED panels. Samsung Display and LG Display will have a head start of a few weeks as mass production is slated to begin end of this month.
