KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo just issued an investor note a day before Apple's official event and he does not have positive news for the iPhone X.

Kuo claims that Apple continues to face significant challenges in the mass production of the iPhone X, in particular the blush gold model where production is less than 10,000 units per day. As a result, he believes the blush gold iPhone X will be available in extremely low volume at launch and could even be available for purchase at a later date than the other colors.  Overall, the iPhone X "will remain in severe short supply for a while".

Kuo also shared his concerns over Apple's new facial recognition technology, Face ID as he does not know how well it can replace Touch ID. In addition, he feels that "Apple has to win over consumers by demoing a smooth-running, easy-to-use and secure feature".

Production and stock shortage issues of the iPhone X have been reported extensively over the past few weeks. With the latest input from Kuo, it seems very likely that the iPhone X will only be available for purchase in October or November.
