BlueStacks Releases its App Player, Allows Android Apps to Run On Windows

BlueStacks has made its App Player available for alpha testing. It allows users to run their Android applications in full screen on their Windows 7 PCs. According to the company, it even works on tablets and laptops powered by Windows 7. A version for Mac OS X is in the pipeline.

The BlueStacks App Player comes preloaded with ten applications and allows the user to synchronize applications from an Android device to a Windows 7 PC. In order to synchronize the applications from an Android device, the user needs to download the BlueStacks Cloud Connect App from the Google Android Market and install it.

After its successful setup, the Cloud Connect App will allow applications on the Android device to be pushed over to the Windows machine. One of the major drawbacks is caused by the lack of touchscreens on Windows PCs; without touch input, the user experience with Android applications will be limited to what the keyboard and mouse combination has to offer.

Currently, this suite of software from BlueStacks is available free-of-charge as they are alpha versions. BlueStacks plans to release an App Player Pro that will also support 'premium' (paid) applications soon. They see business opportunities as the software suite bridges the gap between Android devices and PCs in a seamless manner.
