Blackmagic eGPU now available exclusively on the Apple.com

When Apple announced the new 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro notebooks some weeks ago, it also announced a new external graphics enclosure designed in collaboration with Blackmagic.

Called the Blackmagic eGPU, it is a sleek space grey external graphics enclosure that has been designed to give Macs a graphics performance boost.

Inside the Blackmagic eGPU is an AMD Radeon Pro 580 GPU with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM. It has a processing power of over 5.5 teraflops and can speed up graphics-intensive workflows and enable VR experiences and content creation. Or you could just use it for gaming.

To maximize its performance potential, the Blackmagic eGPU connects via USB-C Thunderbolt 3.

As for outputs, the Blackmagic eGPU offers two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, a single HDMI 2.0 port, and four USB 3.0 Type-A ports. It offers up to 85W of power delivery so it can be used to charge your MacBook Pro notebooks.

Unfortunately, unlike other external graphics enclosures, like the Razer Core X, the Blackmagic eGPU's internal GPU cannot be swapped or replaced.

The Blackmagic eGPU is priced at S$1,149 and is available exclusively at Apple.com for now.
