Bill Gates Supported Skype Takeover

Remember Bill Gates, the former CEO and Chairman of Microsoft, and one of the richest man in the world? Despite handing power over to current CEO Steve Baller since 2000, it seems that he is still very much involved in major decisions at the Redmond company.

According to an article from BBC News, he was in favor of Microsoft buying Skype, and had urged board members to support the move.

BBC News:

"I was a strong proponent at the board level for the deal being done," Mr Gates, Microsoft's chairman told the BBC's Hardtalk programme.

"I think it's a great, great deal for Skype. I think it's a great deal for Microsoft," he added.

Microsoft's $8.5 billion acquisition for the internet phone service is the company's biggest acquisition to date.
