Bill Gates Refutes Rumors of Returning as CEO

Now that Microsoft is actively searching for a new CEO following Ballmer's decision to retire, there are talks that Gates himself might return to steer the company. Microsoft is facing their most difficult period yet, because apart from declining PC sales, it also faces an uphill task to be relevant in the mobile space. It does not help that Windows 8 and Windows Phone failed to take off.

However, Gates has insisted that he will not return as CEO and reaffirmed his commitment to his philanthropic foundation - the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He said:

My full-time work will be with the foundation for the rest of my life. [In terms of the urgency of selecting the CEO] you always feel that way, but then again you want to pick the best person. They'll move at the right pace.

With Gates leading the company, Microsoft enjoyed some of its most successful years. And while Microsoft fans and supporters will be disappointed to hear that Gates has no plans on returning to the company, he reiterated that he will be helping out with the company on a "part time" basis.
