Belkin's new USB-C Multimedia Hub is built like a tank and has all the ports you need
USB-C hubs used to be pricey, but there's no shortage of cheap USB-C hubs now.
Unfortunately, these are often built shoddily and break down after just months. I should know. The Chinese one that I bought lasted for just three months before the HDMI and USB ports died. It's now an oversized SD card reader.
If you want a reliable USB-C hub then you should check out the Belkin USB-C Multimedia Hub.
Granted, it doesn't have the most exciting name but it does have all the ports that one might need. Here they are:
- 2 x USB-A USB 3.0 ports
- 1 x HDMI port (up to 4K at 30Hz)
- 1 x SD card reader
- 1 x Gigabit Ethernet jack
- 1 x USB-C pass-through charging up to 60W
There are other USB-C hubs with more ports but none feels as solid and as well put together as the Belkin USB-C Multimedia Hub. It feels like a solid slab of metal.
As a result, it feels heavier than most of the USB-C hubs I have tested but it remains very portable.
I have been using for it for the past two or so weeks and it works just as advertised. The Gigabit Ethernet jack is fast and the 60W power pass-through was also sufficient to keep the new 16-inch MacBook Pro charged.
The Belkin USB-C Multimedia Hub will set you back S$169 and it will be available around Christmas time on the Belkin Lazada store and all other major retailers.
