Belkin Announces the Availability of Its Suite of Home Automation Products in Singapore

Belkin has announced the availability of its Home Automation products in Singapore. First announced at CES 2012, the WeMo, @TV Plus and the AC1200 Router will be available by the end of January 2013.

Belkin WeMo

Consisting of two initial products, the WeMo Switch and the WeMo Motion, it works with the free WeMo app (available now for download from the Apple App Store) to create a customizable home control system. This line of modular, Wi-Fi-based products turn the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch into a remote control for household devices.

The WeMo Switch is a small device that plugs directly into any electrical outlet and serves as the main building block for WeMo. Once the Switch is connected to the home Wi-Fi network, any device plugged into it can then be turned on or off from anywhere with the WeMo app. The app also enables users to put devices on a timed schedule, so devices will turn on or off at pre-set times.

The WeMo Switch + Motion adds a sensor that reads motion within 10 feet and will turn on or off anything plugged into the switch based on motion. The WeMo app tells any device plugged into the corresponding WeMo Switch what to do when motion is sensed. The app also allows users to create rules or schedules based on customized intervals.

WeMo also features integration with If This Than That (IFTTT), an online service that allows users to create tasks combining different Internet-based services from one platform. Through the WeMo channel on IFTTT, users can use a WeMo Switch or Motion to trigger a variety of services, including email, weather, phone calls, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Belkin @TV Plus

Providing a new way to watch, record, and experience TV content at home or on-the-go, @TV Plus works over Wi-Fi or a 3G/4G network and allows users to access all content from their home theatre on tablets, smartphones, and laptops.

@TV Plus works with both standard and high-definition programming and can connect and control multiple sources, such as a digital cable box, satellite receiver, or DVD player. Its easy-to-use channel guide makes it simple to control live or recorded content directly from a mobile device. @TV Plus also has Wi-Fi built-in and can record live TV directly to a mobile device for viewing when not connected to Wi-Fi or a data network.

@TV Plus works with the @TV Plus mobile app, which is available for both iOS and Android platforms via the Apple App Store and Android Market. It is S$15.98 for smartphones and free for tablets.

Belkin AC1200 Router

Featuring Broadcom's fifth-generation (5G Wi-Fi) 802.11ac chip technology, the AC1200 DB Router provides gigabit speeds wirelessly to extend network range and provide more reliable coverage at greater distances. A centrepiece to any advanced home technology ecosystem, Belkin's powerful AC router makes it possible to stream more content to multiple devices virtually anywhere in the home. Ideal for smartphones and tablets, the AC technology enables faster web downloads and file syncing with less drainage on battery life.
