Bandai Namco's Tekken 8 is set to release in January 2024 with new gameplay and features
Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia has announced that the next game in its acclaimed fighting series, Tekken 8, is set to launch on January 26, 2024. The sequel will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc., Tekken 8 aims to utilise the capabilities of the latest hardware to provide a visually immersive experience, positioning it as the most graphically advanced instalment in the series. Additionally, fans can expect a revamped combat system, which leans towards an aggressive playstyle, aiming to offer high-octane encounters.
One of the key highlights from the reveal was the introduction of the Arcade Quest mode. Serving as an innovative single-player platform, this mode taps into the franchise's origins. Players can tailor their avatars, navigating through different arcade settings and engaging in matches curated to refine their skills. Progressing in this narrative will see the avatar, and by extension the player, enhancing their expertise, mirroring the journey many esports enthusiasts have taken in reality.
Fans will also be pleased with the comeback of familiar faces in Tekken 8's character roster. Characters like Kuma, Leo, Shaheen, Steve, Dragunov, and Yoshimitsu are set to return with modernised looks and abilities. The game goes a step further with character customisation, allowing players to adjust accessory size, positioning, and even colouring, enabling a tailored gaming experience.
As the game is now up for pre-order, enthusiasts can opt from Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate Editions. Standard pre-orders come with the base game and the Paul Phoenix Avatar Costume. Those on PlayStation 5 get additional Mokujin and Testujin Avatar skins. The Deluxe Edition offers a Playable Character Year 1 Pass, unveiling four post-launch characters, the Kinjin Avatar skin, and the Gold Suit Pack that covers all 32 characters. For those eyeing the most comprehensive experience, the Ultimate Edition encompasses the Deluxe content, with added Avatar skins for characters like Kazuya, Jin, and Jun, alongside 32 classic Tekken T-shirt designs for personalising avatars.
