Larian Studios has just released their highly anticipated RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 in early access on PC, Mac and Google Stadia. This version of the game might not be fully complete, but it boasts 25 hours of content, 46,000 lines of dialogue, 600 NPCs and 146 spells and actions. All of this is included in the game’s first act alone!

This early access version of the game also features an extensive character creator, which lets players pick from 16 different races and subraces, and choose between six playable classes and their subclasses. So as far as options go, you have tons of them here. The development team plans to constantly improve the game and add new content as the community plays through it, working on feedback as things progress.

A news release describes what players are up against in Baldur's Gate 3:

A parasite planted in their brains, they wake up on board a burning Nautiloid Ship, racing across hell and at the very center of an epic fight between Mind Flayers and red dragons. And that will only mark the very beginning of their journey. Players will encounter many challenges upon their return to the forgotten realms in a tale about fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival - and the lure of absolute power.

Based on Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition, Baldur’s Gate 3 is an enormous RPG featuring a fantastical story that is shaped by the choices players make. A couple of Dungeons & Dragons gameplay elements have even made their way into the game, such as turn-based combat and players having to make dice rolls for key decisions.

In early access, you’ll get to explore part of the Forgotten Realms, a massive world full of secrets. Larian claims that the world features a lot of verticality, allowing players to go anywhere from, “the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City.”

The game also features online multiplayer for up to 4 players, in case you’re not accustomed to lone wolfing it. You can pick up Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam, GOG, Google Stadia and Mac right now, before its full release - which hasn’t been dated yet.
