Smart plugs are a great way to give old appliances or gadgets some sort of "smart" functionality.

This one that you see here comes from Kyla, which is home-grown Aztech's line of smart home devices.

It's called the Gen 2 Smart Wi-Fi Plug and the big news here is that it's markedly sleeker and more compact than its predecessor.

The old smart Wi-Fi plug from Kyla was bulky and stood out like a sore thumb. This new one looks far more discreet and like a regular plug.

The Gen 2 Smart Wi-Fi Plug connects to your home's Wi-Fi network and can be managed using the Kyla app.

You can set schedules to turn it on or off, or you can make it turn on or off remotely. It supports up to 15 timing tasks and works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

With it, you can do things like programme your fan to turn on every afternoon. Parents of toddlers and infants can use it to automatically turn on the bottle warmer every morning.

The Kyla Gen 2 Smart Wi-Fi Plug is available now from Lazada, Shopee, and Challenger for S$18.90.
