Audi's new e-tron GT looks like the perfect car for Iron Man
Audi has just unveiled a sporty new electric car at the LA Auto Show. Called the e-tron GT, it is a sports sedan that was developed "in close collaboration with Porsche" and will production start sometime in 2020.
The e-tron GT uses tried-and-tested technology, specifically the drivetrain and battery platform from the Porsche Taycan - Porsche’s first electric car.
Power comes from a 90kWh battery pack and gets sent to two electric motors - one on each axle. Together, the two electric motors develop 434kW of power, the equivalent of 590hp.
That’s enough to propel the e-tron GT from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds and 0 to 200km/h in 12 seconds. Top speed is limited to 240km/h. Estimated range is about 400km - enough for you to make 8 trips from Tuas to Changi.
It will have quick-charging capabilities too. With the right 800V charger, you can get from 0% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
No word yet on pricing but don't expect it to be cheap. But since deliveries are only expected to start in 2021, you have about two years to save up.
