Audio-Technica introduces the luxurious ATH-L5000

Audio-Technica latest release marks yet another collaboration with leather-maker Connolly, and brings listeners a set of headphones with an audio characteristic that changes as the audio ages. You see, the aniline leather wrapping the Sycamore wood allows it to “breathe”, hence letting the wood age. This in turn, changes the audio characteristic of the headphone with time.

The ATH-L5000 features 58mm drivers mounted on thin, lightweight, carbon fiber reinforced flanges that allow better airflow between diaphragm and flanges, together with the diamond-like carbon coating on the diaphragms, the ATH-L5000 headphones are said to give you a frequency from 5-50,000Hz; well beyond the recognized range of human hearing.

It weighs just 320g, and comes with two 3.0m cables - one is a 6.3mm to A2DC dual-sided cable, and the other a balanced cable. It also comes with a padded hard-shell storage case for protection during transportation.

Only 500 units have been produced worldwide, and each will cost US$4000. It will be available to purchase in Singapore from November 2018 onwards.
