Audeze LCD-1 brings planar sound in a travel-friendly package

Planar magnetic headphones have generally been larger and heavier, thanks to the large magnets that they typically employ. Not with the LCD-1. Audeze says these are the lightest and most compact planar magnetic reference headphones they’ve ever created, and they come with a foldable design for easier traveling.

The LCD-1 has an open, circumaural design for transparent, spacious imaging. It uses Ultra-thin Uniforce diaphragms and Fluxor Magnets to provide powerful sound and great accuracy to go with the wide dynamic range from the 90mm planar magnetic drivers.

The headphones come with a Nylon carrying case for transport, a 3.5mm premium braided cable for tangle-free connection, and a 1/4-inch adapter.

Here are the basic specifications:

  • Style: Over-ear, open-circumaural
  • Transducer: 90mm Planar magnetic
  • Magnetic structure: Single-Side Fluxor magnet array
  • Magnet type: Neodymium N50
  • Diaphragm type: Ultra-thin Uniforce
  • Frequency Response: 10Hz — 20KHz
  • Impedance: 13.5 ohms
  • Carrying case: Nylon semi hard case
  • Ear pads and headband: Genuine lambskin leather
  • Weight: 250g

The LCD-1 will be available in Singapore from December 2019 for S$629 at all authorized dealers including AV One, Connect IT, Lazada, Stereo Electronics and Treoo.com.
