ASUS has just announced its new ZenWiFi mesh networking system, which will be launching at Sitex 2019 next week.

The new ZenWiFi mesh networking will come in two flavours:

  • ZenWiFi AX that supports the new Wi-Fi 6 standard
  • ZenWiFi AC that supports the existing Wi-Fi 5 standard

Both are tri-band systems with the ZenWiFi AX supporting maximum data transfer rates of up to 6,600Mbps and the ZenWiFi AC delivering speeds of up to 3,000Mbps.

For those not familiar with Wi-Fi 6, we have got a lot more reading materials on this topic and what you need to know here and here.

What's unique about the ZenWiFi mesh networking systems is that unlike most other mesh networking systems, ASUS will allow users to choose how they want to use and deploy the ZenWiFi's three networks.

Users will be able to configure different SSIDs for the ZenWiFi's individual networks and choose to connect either to its 2.4GHz network for better range or its 5GHz network for better performance.

Furthermore, users will be able to dedicate one of the ZenWiFi's 5GHz network solely for backhaul communications. This way, users will be able to keep one of the ZenWiFi's 5GHz network free.

Finally, the two ZenWiFi systems will come with free lifetime AiProtection Pro service by Trend Micro. This is a built-in security system that helps protect your network from attacks, malware, and viruses.

It also features parental controls for parents to manage and monitor their children's online activities.

The ASUS ZenWiFi AC will be launching at Sitex 2019 this week for S$499, while the ZenWiFi AX will launch later this year.
