If you're looking for a display that can do both work and play in one place, smart monitors might be the answer.

Some can stream content and work remotely without a PC connected (like the LG MyView smart monitors). Some, like the Samsung Smart Monitor lineup, even have a built-in camera for video calls.

Now, ASUS has joined in the fun with the new ZenScreen Smart MS27UC smart monitor.

This 27-inch display is ASUS's first Google TV smart monitor. It has a 4K IPS panel that offers a wide 178° viewing angle while covering 99% of the sRGB gamut. The display is HDR-certified with VESA DisplayHDR 400 support.

MS27UC can connect to PCs and smartphones wirelessly through Miracast or Google Cast, so there's little need for a large PC tower for simple tasks. The ZenScreen Smart MS27UC can also access the Internet via a web browser, and signing into a Google Account will allow users to create and sync work and documents on Google Workspace apps.

The smart monitor supports over 10,000+ apps natively, and thanks to the built-in dual front-facing 5W Harman Kardon-certified speakers, users can watch videos and enjoy content with decent sound.

Plenty of wired connectivity options are also available, including a USB Type-C port with 90W Power Delivery, HDMI, DisplayPort, and two USB hubs to connect to laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

The Multi-connect feature is useful for people with multiple connected devices. It allows the ZenScreen Smart MS27UC to function as a hub, controlling connected devices with a single Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Across smart monitor options in Singapore, the Asus ZenScreen Smart MS27UC seems the smallest at 27 inches compared to the 32-inch Samsung and LG smart monitors, so it might be the best fit for tight spaces.

That said, the Samsung smart monitors come with a built-in webcam, which can be very handy for people who need to take video calls while making use of features like 4K upscaling.

On the other hand, the LG MyView smart monitors can be paired with a detachable webcam and offer support for productivity programs and connectivity with AirPlay 2 and Miracast.

All three monitors offer voice control support, although only the Asus ZenScreen Smart MS27UC uses Google Assistant. The Samsung smart monitors offer support for Samsung Bixby and Alexa, while the LG MyView smart monitors use LG ThinQ.

The Asus ZenScreen Smart MS27UC will be available from mid-November onwards with a recommended retail price of S$649.
