ASUS ZenFone 4 series launching in Singapore in late October but no ZenFone 4 Pro

ASUS ZenFone 4 series launching in Singapore in late October but no ZenFone 4 Pro

ASUS' ZenFone 4 series will be launching in Singapore in late October. Four models will be available locally:-

  • ZenFone 4
  • ZenFone 4 Max
  • ZenFone 4 Max Pro
  • ZenFone 4 Selfie

Notably missing from the lineup is ASUS' top-of-the-line ZenFone 4 Pro, which will not be coming to Singapore at this time.

ASUS' main selling point for this year's ZenFones is that each model in the lineup is armed with a dual camera setup - in the case of the ZenFone 4 Selfie, it has dual front-facing cameras and a single rear camera.

The ZenFone 4. Only the Midnight Black edition is coming to Singapore.

The ZenFone 4 has a 5.5-inch Full-HD Super IPS+ display, Android 7.0 with ZenUI 4.0, USB Type-C 3.1, dual speakers, a 3,300mAh battery and a hybrid SIM and memory card slot. The dual-camera setup on the rear is similar to the ZenFone 4 Pro except that the primary camera has a smaller aperture of f/1.8 and the secondary camera only offers 120° field of view. It also has an 8MP front-facing camera with a smaller f/2.0 aperture and 84° field of view.

The version available locally will be the higher spec Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space. It will be available on 28th October in Midnight Black (the other colors will not be available locally) from M1, StarHub and authorized ASUS retailers on 28th October for S$698.

The ZenFone 4 Selfie. Like its ZenFone 4 counterpart, only one color will be available locally - Sunlight Gold.

The ZenFone 4 Selfie has a 5.5-inch IPS display, a Qualcomm Snadragon 430 mobile platform with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage space, triple slots for 2 nano-SIM cards + 1 microSD memory card. Rather than a rear dual camera setup, the Selfie has two front-facing cameras: a primary selfie camera - 20MP, f/2.0 aperture and ASUS Selfie Master technology, and a secondary super wide-angle 120° selfie camera for group shots. If this setup sounds familiar, it's because the old LG V10 used to have a similar coniguration.

The rear camera is a 16MP image sensor with LED real tone flash and phase-detection autofocus. Other specs include micro-USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, a fingerprint sensor and a 3,000mAh battery. Do note that it does not have quick-charging or NFC capabilities. The ZenFone 4 Selfie will be available in Deepsea Black and Sunlight Gold from authorized ASUS retailers on 14th October for S$398.

This is the ZenFone 4 Max.

The ZenFone 4 Max Pro is a 5.5-inch smartphone with an HD 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution display. It has a metal unibody design and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space. On the rear of the phone is a 16MP f/2.0 aperture 26mm main camera and a secondary wide-angle camera with a 12mm focal length. As the name suggests, the main selling point of the Max Pro is its massive 5,000mAh battery. You can even use the Max Pro to reverse charge other devices, just like the ZenFone 3 Max. Lets hope it does a better job than its predecessor. Ironically however, note that the ZenFone 4 Max series does not support fast charging. The ZenFone 4 Max Pro will be available from Singtel, M1, StarHub and ASUS authorized retailers in Deepsea Black, Sunlight Gold and Rose Pink on 21st October for S$368.

The ZenFone 4 Max shares the same design as the Max Pro but comes in a smaller 5.2-inch body. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor but has the same dual rear camera setup. With the smaller body, it also comes with a slightly reduced 4,100mAh battery pack. The ZenFone4 Max will be available at ASUS authorized retailers in Deepsea Black and Sunlight Gold on 21st October for S$258.
